‘Jack Goes Boating’ and ‘Along Came Polly’

I managed to finish watching 2 films that starred Philip Seymour Hoffman in one go last night. The first is his directorial debut in ‘Jack Goes Boating’ and the second is, albeit a bad movie, the one where he stole every scene he’s in, ‘Along Came Polly’. Needless to say, his acting was incredibly spot-on for these two very different characters, a quiet shy guy who listens to Jamaican music in the first movie and a grown-up child star that couldn’t stop living in his past glory and hasn’t moved on. There’s a reason why he’s my favourite actor. He succeeds in every character that he portrays and that is an impressive wide range he’s already embodied on screen.
